St. Jakobshalle in Basel normally hosts concerts, sports tournaments or trade fairs. On 28 February, the starting signal for this year's SMI® dividend season will be given in the historic events venue when Novartis welcomes its shareholders to the AGM in St. Jakobshalle. If everything goes smoothly, they will approve the 23rd dividend increase in a row. A few days later, the pharmaceuticals group should distribute some CHFbn 7 to its shareholders. This will mark the start of a windfall season of a different kind. The amount distributed by the 20 SMI® members could exceed the CHFbn 38 mark this year. According to calculations by the investor magazine BÖRSE ONLINE, the 30 groups contained in the German DAX® will together distribute an almost identical EUR amount. When interest rates are low, then, dividends are a greater argument than ever for equities as an investment class.
"Stay cool and pocket dividends" is the credo of investor and bestselling author Christian W. Röhl. Don't see stocks as quick speculation, but rather like rented properties - which yield current income and increase in value over the long term. A prerequisite for this: Sustainable dividend quality. That is why Christian W. Röhl does not only look at the dividend yield. Instead, his predicate DividendenAdel is based on four criteria in which shares - true to the motto "Buy & Hold & Check" - have to prove themselves anew every year. Röhl gives this predicate to the dividend aristocracy – those companies that offer a particularly sustainable distribution quality. His innovative scoring system, published transparently via the internet and social media, fits in very well with Leonteq's corporate philosophy. The Zurich investment product specialist is collaborating with Röhl as of now. DividendenAdel indices for both Switzerland and Germany have just been launched.
The DividendenAdel Deutschland Index also contains a healthy mix of large, mid and small caps. From the DAX®, Munich RE is one of those to have made it through the selection process. The reinsurer has not cut its dividend since 1970. Strong growth and continuous distributions are combined in CTS Eventim. The concert promoter and ticket marketer has been distributing half of its profits to shareholders since 2006. The tracker certificate from Leonteq passively maps the new index. Listed in Zurich and Frankfurt respectively, the participation product thus offers investors the opportunity to add a dynamic and highly promising dividend strategy to their portfolio. Fitting the fundamental strategy, the underlying asset is a net total return index. Distributions of the members are reinvested (net) in the benchmark.
