The Leonteq Crypto Market Index tracks the performance of the largest cryptocurrencies. The weighting of the individual crypto assets is calculated based on their market capitalization. A mechanism is used that prevents concentration on individual components. The weighting of the components of the Leonteq Crypto Market Index is reviewed every three months in accordance with the index regulations. On 21.04.2022, the first rebalancing since the launch in January took place.
The strongest decline in the index was observed in ALGO, the coin of the smart contracts platform Algorand, with -44.95%. In the difficult first quarter, Bitcoin, the largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, held up best with a price decline of only -0.27%. The price changes of the individual cryptocurrencies since launch can be seen in the chart above.
Due to the generally difficult environment in the crypto market, the performance of the index since launch is -10.26%. Although Algorand is the biggest loser in the index with a loss of over 40%, it has cost the certificate a performance of only -1.14% due to the comparatively low weighting in the index. XRP, the currency of the Ripple network, with an almost unchanged price leads to an index performance of -0.04 percentage points, as can be seen in the preceding chart.
Looking at the components of the index, Bitcoin remains the currency with the highest weighting. The bitcoin dominance, and thus the index weighting, has increased slightly since launch. This also led to the largest absolute increase in weighting in the index of 0.74%. The largest absolute decrease in weighting occurred in Algorand (ALGO): -0.58%.
